Contract Construction Manager

Overview:
ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work on-site with our client, a government agency focused on transportation. This accomplished and competent Construction Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and be the onsite point of contact for subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have the ability to keep detailed, thorough and accurate records of correspondence, organize numerous construction tasks and keep detailed inspection logs.


Responsibilities:
  • On-site inspections and completion of a daily inspection report
  • Interpreting contract drawings and specifications for building projects
  • Prepare/administer/contract PC's & change orders
  • Assist in negotiating change orders or other contract changes/price review/negotiation of changes
  • Coordination/distribution of minor revisions/manage and address requests for information, submittals, and potential changes
  • Coordination/distribution of clarification and field orders
  • Maintain up-to-date plans and specs
  • Assure documentation of all contractor correspondence
  • Monitor field-work; assure that invoices are consistent with work accomplished in the field 
  • Create, organize and maintain electronic Doc C files, project files, and binders
  • Assist with distribution of and maintenance of tracking logs for submittals, RFI’s, NCR’s
  • Proofread, edit and finalize documents for signature and distribution
  • Schedule meetings
  • Create and maintain various databases, spreadsheets, Word documents and correspondence to support routine files, reports, and requests
  • Monitor construction activities to assure contractual compliance
  • Perform field measurements and calculations to verify quantities of completed work
  • Provide construction inspection documentation
  • Assist with contracts administration for management of construction contracts
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field, environmental studies related field, engineering design or planning is preferred
  • Additional scope related experience in lieu of degree is acceptable
  • 5+ years total credited experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building construction practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of building construction supervision/contract management aspects including safety, quality, and change management practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the major components of construction documents and construction contracts
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in oral and written form
  • Ability to effectively coordinate activities with contractor personnel, other jurisdictions, consultants, utility companies and staff
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, reports, and other design-related information that generally pertains to construction
  • Ability to analyze and present quantitative data and draw conclusions from such
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, supervisors, consultants, other agencies, and the general public, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to utilize applicable engineering and business software applications
