A prominent professional firm located in the heart of Vancouver is looking for a Controller. This role is crucial to the success of the company and requires someone who enjoys a challenge and wants to be part of a collective team environment.
Evaluate financial data to identify issues, opportunities, and improvements to provide a financial assessment impact that will support decision making
Create methods for reporting on KPIs including utilization, average rate, effective rate
Support the management team with the strategy behind the numbers
Manage all accounting procedures including Billing, A/R, A/P, Payroll, GL and project cost accounting, and Revenue Recognition
Propose and complete the method for progressively greater organization of financial processes as company scales
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Monitor and reconcile timecards, PTO, etc.
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
Assist in the advancement of the overall business strategy
Manage the month-end accounting close, ensuring accurate and timely results that are following US GAAP requirements
Oversight of the general ledger, reconciliation of accounts, bank deposits, cash flow, projections, proformas, audits, and special projects
Prepare and review journal entries, verifying the accuracy, and completion for processing.
Prepare and review General Ledger account reconciliations, verifying the accuracy, and completion.
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
5+ years’ accounting experience in a smaller company
Skilled in Quick Books and Excel, etc.
Experience should include financial analysis and/or accounting in an analytical capacity
Experience preparing or auditing financial statements and footnote disclosures.
An analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude
Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects is key
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and experience working with staff on all levels
